Dental, Vision and Hearing Plans
Stand-alone plans that cover cleanings, fillings, crowns and dentures (dental), exams and eyewear (vision) and exams and hearing aids (hearing), often in one policy. Useful for people on Original Medicare + Supplement, and for Advantage members whose plan's dental benefit is thin. Look at annual maximums, waiting periods for major work, and whether your dentist is in network. Quote dental, vision and hearing →
Hospital Indemnity
Pays you a fixed cash amount per day in the hospital (and often for observation stays, ambulance, surgery or skilled nursing) regardless of what Medicare pays. Advantage plans typically charge daily hospital copays for the first several days of a stay; a hospital indemnity policy is designed to hand that cost back to you. Premiums are modest and most policies are available with few health questions.
Cancer and Critical Illness
A lump sum paid directly to you at diagnosis of cancer, heart attack, stroke or other listed conditions — money for travel to treatment, lost income, a caregiver, or simply the deductible and copays. Benefit amounts and covered conditions vary; we match the policy to the gap in your medical plan.
Final Expense Life Insurance
A small permanent life policy (commonly $5,000–$40,000) meant to cover funeral and final costs so family isn't left with the bill. Simplified underwriting, level premiums, and some guaranteed-issue options for people with health conditions. Get a final expense quote →
Short-Term Care and Long-Term Care
Medicare covers only limited skilled nursing after a hospital stay and no custodial long-term care. Short-term care policies pay for home care or facility care for up to a year with simpler underwriting than traditional long-term care insurance. We'll tell you plainly whether either fits your situation and budget.
How We Think About Extras
- Price the medical coverage first; extras are decided second.
- Each policy should close a specific gap you can name. If it doesn't, don't buy it.
- Most of these can be quoted and applied for online in minutes — see the quote page — or we'll do it with you by phone.
Common Questions
Does Medicare cover dental?
Original Medicare does not cover routine dental care. Many Medicare Advantage plans include a dental benefit with limits, and stand-alone dental (often bundled with vision and hearing) plans are available for anyone on Medicare.
What is a hospital indemnity plan for?
It pays you a set cash amount for each day you're hospitalized, regardless of your other coverage. People on Medicare Advantage plans use it to cover the plan's daily hospital copays; the money is paid to you and can be used for anything.
Is final expense insurance worth it?
If you don't have savings or life insurance set aside for funeral costs and want to be sure family won't carry them, a small permanent policy with level premiums can make sense. If you already have assets earmarked for it, it may not. We'll say which.
Can I get these plans if I have health conditions?
Many dental, vision and hearing plans and hospital indemnity policies have few or no health questions. Cancer, critical illness and life policies usually ask health questions, and guaranteed-issue life options exist with a waiting period.
